Action Needed

Posted over 7 years ago by Regina Pommer

Hello AANP members,

Over the course of the last several months, we have called upon you to take action in support of the VA's proposal to provide veterans direct access to care provided by NPs and other APRNs in VA facilities. We thank you for answering the call to action each time. In fact, over the weekend we asked you to respond to a Call to Action, and in less than 24 hours, over 1,700 messages were sent to Members of Congress. Today, once again, we are asking you to express your support on this important issue. While the VA continues its internal process, it is important that we continue to show support. Members of Congress need to hear from NPs. Our message is clear: Urge Members of Congress to request that the VA finalize and implement this important proposal.

As we have mentioned previously, some in the physician community are working to stall the implementation of this rule. Therefore, we cannot emphasize enough how important it is that you contact your Members of Congress TODAY to make certain that the Voice of the Nurse Practitioner is heard. The time is now to ensure our nation's veterans have direct access to the high quality care NPs provide.

In addition to engaging Congress to support the VA's proposal, we ask that you help in keeping Congress focused on solving other pressing patient care needs and issues that impact our profession. Please visit the AANP Advocacy Center and send your Members of Congress a letter of support on other issues where AANP is working to improve the lives of patients and our members.

Sincerely,
Cindy Cooke, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP
AANP President
