Governor Rick Scott met with a small delegation in his office earlier today to mark the passage of ground breaking advanced practice legislation. BIll sponsors Senator Densie Grimsley and Representative Cary Pigman joined with FNPN President Janet DuBois and several others representing leaders from the Florida Coalition for Advanced Practice Nurses in celebrating the ceremonial signing of the bill. The bill, named for Barbara Lumpkin, RN, a retired FNA lobbyist and nurse advocate, is a posiitive step forward in our efforts to move towards full practice authority in hopes of joining the many other states that allow NPs to practice without barriers. We thank all of our members and friends for thier continued support.
