In celebration of National NP week, NSO will be hosting a webinar for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) on Tuesday 11/14, at 1pm ET. We will be inviting our NSO NPs to register via our E-newsletter later this week.
All NPs are invited to register for this free event. This event is certified for 1 contact hour of continuing education credit. NSO’s webinar entitled, “Nurse Practitioner Claim Report: 4th Edition” to be held 11/14/17 at 1pm ET, will explore top areas of claims against nurse practitioners. In the recent 5 years, not only have claims frequency increased but the number of claims resulting in severe financial indemnity payments has increased since 2012. The average paid indemnity for closed claims with an indemnity payment of $10,000 or greater is $240,471. In the 2012 and 2009 CNA/NSO nurse practitioner claim analyses, which used the same criteria, the average paid indemnity is $221,852 and $186,282, respectively. This indicates an average annual paid indemnity growth rate of +6 percent between the 2009 and 2012 claim reports and a +2 percent annual growth rate between the 2012 and 2017 report periods.
