THIS WEEK IN REVIEW:

The last pre-Session committee week is now over for the 2018 Florida Legislative Session. There are currently 2249 bills filed, with the final bills coming out of bill drafting in the next few days. The regular Legislative Session will convene on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

As you may have seen in the news, things are heating up at the Capitol. The current mood can be described as cold and testy at best. There are multiple allegations for sexual misconduct made by staff of legislative members. There is an investigation under way in the Senate that is getting uglier each day, with sides being picked and possible expulsion of a sitting Senator under discussion. It’s a “dumpster fire” of epic proportions. As we navigate our legislation this session, we hope that these distractions will be put away and we can get to work on why they are coming to Tallahassee to begin with.

This will be the last committee week report, as the next one will be after regular session has started. We hope you have a Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year with friends and family.
