NSO will be hosting a webinar for Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, & Nurse Firms on Friday, November 30th at 2pm EST. Attached is a promotional flyer and a blurb below has been created to easily share with your members.

All Nurses are invited to register for this free event. This event is certified for 1 contact hour of continuing education credit. Participants who attend 50 minutes of the event and complete a post-event test will earn 1 contact hour of credit. Registration is open!

Title: Workplace Violence Prevention: Recommendations for Nurses

When: Friday, November 30, 2018 Time: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time (1 hour session)

Credits: 1 CEU Overview: Violence or abuse experienced in the workplace is a critical issue that many organizations face. Nurses are at increased risk for experiencing workplace violence due to their close contact with patients as well as working in an occupational environment marked by stress and burnout. It is imperative that nurses be well educated and fully informed as they deal with this daunting topic. This course will review the topic of violence in the workplace, discuss steps that can be taken to prevent or diffuse its effects. The purpose of this course is to provide nurses with information so they may better recognize, address, and prevent violence in their workplaces.

Objectives:

  • Describe the scope of workplace violence in healthcare.
  • Recognize risk factors and hazards commonly associated with workplace violence.
  • Review components of an effective workplace violence prevention program.
  • Identify risk control techniques for organizational leadership and nurses to help increase workplace safety.

FAQ about NSO’s webinars:

Will I receive a discount on my NSO policy? No, at this time the webinar alone does not make you eligible for a policy discount, but participants who complete this activity will be awarded one contact hour of continuing education credit.

I cannot attend because I have a scheduling conflict.  Will it be offered again? Registered nurses who are unable to attend the live event will have access to the archived recording and will be sent an email post event with a link to listen to the recorded presentation.

What are the requirements for me to receive CE credit? In order to earn CE credit for this event: Participants must (1) register, (2) attend the entire live event on 11/30/18 at 2pm ET, and (3) complete the post event survey evaluation. Only those who meet these requirements will be issued a certificate of completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to make accommodations for time zone.

Will I receive CE credit if I miss the live event? Yes and No. The FREE CE credit through NSO is only available for those who attend the live event. However, the archived recording will be eligible for credit through NSO’s Focus on Malpractice Prevention page via LWW’s Nursing Center.com. The certified content will be at a discounted price for NSO customers and will appear on LWW’s site within 2 months of the event date.

Are any states excluded from receiving credit? No. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Credit is available in all states.

How will I know if I’m registered? Several confirmation emails are sent to registrants for the NSO webinar. One at time of registration, another is sent two days prior to the event and a last email is sent two hours prior to the event. If a participant is registered, they will automatically receive an email after the webinar to access the on-demand recording. Customers will need to register in order to receive these emails, both pre- and post-event. Confirmation emails contain a link to use for the live event and is unique to each participant to track attendance for CE purposes.
