Breaking News!! FPA Bills filed and House Committee hears APRN Panel Testimony

Yesterday, Feb 13, 2019, Senator Jeff Brandes filed SB 972. This bill will enable Advanced Practice Registered Nurses  (APRNs) to practice to the full extent of their education and training without requiring a protocol agreement after meeting certain requirements. APRNs may also elect to continue to practice under protocol arrangement.

Today Representative Pigman filed HB 821 which will also enable full practice authority for APRNs. While the bills are not identical, FNPN will continue to work with stakeholders towards developing compromise language.

In Addition, on Wednesday February 13th the Florida House Health Quality Subcommittee held a panel discussion regarding APRN practice.  AANP Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Dr. Tay Kopanos DNP NP-C testified to the committee along with Dr. Juan Quintana DNP CRNA.  An archive of the meeting is available at
