FNPN 2020 Board of Directors Nominations

President

  • Arlene Wright

Arlene Wright, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FNAP

Arlene is the current FNPN president. During her first year in office, she has organized a leadership think tank comprised of representatives of the local state groups working together on current NP issues. Under her leadership FNPN has implemented and seen the growth of the region directors to offer support, resources and leadership to our grassroots local groups. On the legislative front, FNPN has been front and center working with the coalition to advance NP practice. Dr. Wright is also the co-founder and executive Vice President of NP’s of Lee County where she continues to promote partnerships and most recently along with the board developed a leadership mentorship program to facilitate transition to practice for new NP’s. One of Dr. Wright’s passions is education and promoting quality clinical experiences for NP students. She has successfully designed and implemented programs in her workplace to address the preceptor challenge as well as issues associated with retention and parity.

Dr Wright’s over arching goal as FNPN president is to continue to promote unity for all NP’s in Florida as we truly come together with that one voice.

2nd Vice President-Education

  • Michael "Scott" Nickerson

Michael "Scott" Nickerson, MS, APRN, AGPCNP-C, COHN-S,

Greeting Fellow NP's

It has been an honor and privilege to complete the term of 2nd VP Education for FNPN this past year as an appointed member to fulfill the vacancy. I have truly enjoyed working with the board of directors, members of the organization and AANP to help advance the legacy and practice of NP's. I would consider it an honor to be elected to this position and continue in my current role to serve the membership. This past year has been focused on conference planning to ensure the best possible experience for our attendees and obtaining our own approved CE Broker number to enable us to provide our own CE credit. My future goals are to continue to ensure we have a top-notch conference offering us the latest in Evidenced Based Practice by stellar presenters. In addition, I would continue to work with the board of directors and nationals to enhance our educational programs throughout the year via online course services. I would also continue to share the passion to help develop NP 101 Basic courses to help new grads transition into the world of practice to ensure their success and the recognition of NP's as a driving force in healthcare.

I have over 16 years of experience serving on local, state and national boards for nursing advancement and feel confident I can continue to contribute to the success of our organization. I look forward to helping boost the awareness of the NP in the communities and ensure we are well prepared to meet the daily challenges of health care.

It would be more than an honor to have your vote of confidence to serve as FNPN treasurer.

Mary Cisco MBA, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I am motivated to run for office this year after networking with NPs around the state and appreciating the collective power of their voices. At such a critical time, I feel compelled to join the fight as a strong advocate for change. The future of NPs in Florida is bright but at the same time also face many challenges. I feel that I am uniquely positioned to not only understand the challenges but to offer innovative ideas and creative solutions to address the problems both NPs and patients face in our state.

I feel I am prepared for this position of leadership in our organization after participating in elected and volunteer positions in local, state and national organizations. I am eager to help ensure financial stability while promoting FNPN and increasing our membership.

I am running for this position as I never want to stop growing, learning and giving back to support and advance NPs. I feel we need to have a strong voice and raise up our profession with pride to the highest level. I would like to be involved in something bigger where I can make sure those voices are heard and valued.

Regional Director 1

  • Kathleen Perrott Wilson

Kathleen Perrott Wilson, PhD, APRN, CPNP, FNP-BC, PNP-BC, BC-ADM, FAANP

Dear Colleagues:

I am requesting your vote of support to re-elect me as the Region 1 Director for the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN). In 2018 I was appointed to fill the 2nd year term for Region 1 Director for another colleague. Region 1 covers 27 counties in North Florida from Escambia through the Big Bend and down to Alachua/Levy counties.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this role and with the help from my colleagues in my region have accomplished much throughout the year including:

  • Networking with each local council in the region and growing these councils with new members.
  • Building new councils with NP colleagues– such as the West Florida VIP (Very Important Providers). Building new councils is vital in our area to bring forth the voices of our West Florida NP’s and to engage our legislators in that part of Florida to better understand our role and benefits to the health and well- being of Floridians.
  • Serving as a resource to seasoned advanced practice nurses and new graduates.
  • Raising awareness about the positive powerful NP impacts in Hurricane Michael ravaged areas through publication and dissemination.
  • Representing the interests and concerns of Region 1 APRN’s at regional and national meetings

Yet there is much work to accomplish my outreach goals for the region and with your vote of support, I would be able to continue this trajectory! Please vote to re – elect me, Kathleen Wilson, for the Region 1 Director of the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN). As an APRN with greater than 35 year of experience, organizational leadership, passion, and zeal for communicating the good news of nurse practitioners, I recognize that regular communication is key to our success. As a strong communicator, I envision working collaboratively with the APRN’s across Region 1 and throughout the other four (4) regions in the state of Florida to facilitate a unified message regarding the value of nurse practitioners. Residing in Tallahassee, Florida’s Capitol City, places me at the center of legislative activities with access to our lawmakers.

As your FNPN Region 1 Director, I assure you that I will engage you my colleagues across the region to keep you informed, supported, and moving to Florida’s next practice goal, that of FULL PRACTICE AUTHORITY!
Thank you for your vote!

Donna Lester, DNP, ACNP-BC, MS, CC-CNS, BSN

I would like to serve on the Board of Directors as Region 3’s representative. I have lived in Florida for 20 years and have been involved with local, state and federal legislation movements to advance practice for Nurse Practitioners.

I was a founding member of the Polk County Advanced Practice Nurses Association which started as 8 people and now has over 150 members. I helped our group become involved with the state group of FNPN and the national group of AANP. During my time as an officer I helped visit legislators in our area and the state capital along with working with key members of FNPN to do the “Rally in Tally”

I was the chair of the Nominating committee of FNPN for two years and have continued to work with FNPN to advance our practice. I want to continue to serve our group and our state NPs to further our practice and reduce restrictions.

I continue to work at the bedside clinically at Lakeland Regional Health and as an adjunct professor to educate and mentor new Advanced Practice Providers.

Marie Labadie-DeGennaro, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I am an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with over 25 years nursing experience in a variety of clinical settings and roles. I have strong clinical skills in patient-centered care, documentation, and evidence-based practice. I am committed to safely practicing a high-quality, holistic approach while sustaining optimal health outcomes for patients ranging from infancy through aging adult with complex healthcare needs. I am highly sensitive to the emotional needs and wellbeing of peers and patients. As a natural leader, I have the ability to set objectives, plan, organize and evaluate activities in which the board will oversee for my region. I have experience in conflict resolution in multidisciplinary areas. I have trained, precepted and mentored throughout my career and have a passion for inspiring others with my ambition and dedication. I am graduating with my DNP in September of this year. As a nurse leader, I hope to influence others and impact social injustices because health care disparities affect overall health care outcomes for everyone. I want to continue to identify and consider social determinants of health which will allow me to view patients as individuals and better prepare me and my peers to meet their unique needs. I hope to spread understanding of how a patient’s health is affected by their circumstances and offer resources and better ways to meet their needs. I hope to be a luminary to others and promote a more holistic patient-centered approach to care which in turn can lead to a more comprehensive and effective care for all the communities we support.
