Updates & Conversation with The Honorable Donna Shalala US Representative-District 21

Thanks to Jessica MacIntyre MSN,APRN president of Nurse Practitioner Council of Miami-Dade, the board of directors and members for hosting a conversation with The Honorable Donna Shalala US Representative-District 21 at Books & Books in Coral Gables FL on Saturday April 14th. Kudos for great and unique venture! We heard updates on her health related legislation including sponsoring Student Loan Disclosure Transparency Act of 2019, Promoting Cannabis research and for other purposes, and a Disaster Relief Medicaid Act. We discussed barriers for NPs to initiate thecider for Home Health, and Diabetic therapeutic shoes, and NPs prohibited from providing Federal Work Comp care. We hope other groups try this type of venue that really works with the busy legislator’s schedules to get an up close and personal visit!
