2020 Legislative Report #15

Posted about 4 years ago by Regina Pommer

THIS WEEK IN REVIEW:

Today is the 60th day of the 2020 Legislative Session. In a normal year, this would be the last day. The budget would be voted on and the members would all go back to their districts. However, this year that is not going to happen. The budget is still being negotiated. A number of reasons for its delay, including working on creating a funding source to combat Coronavirus,
has caused the negotiations to continue.

At the moment, the plan is to finalize the budget by Sunday, and due to the mandatory 72hr cooling-off period, vote on it on Wednesday. In addition, the Legislature will still end discussing policy bills today, so anything not passed by midnight tonight will die. This could change throughout the day, but we wanted to give you the latest updates on what is happening.
