Covid Vaccination Clinics - update on licensure for participation

Posted about 3 years ago by Jean Aertker

FNPN is helping  the FLORIDA APRN COALITION efforts to get volunteers to sign up for the Covid vaccination clinics being set up. There are many opportunities to be involved. We've had questions from NPs who have retired and their NP license lapsed or NPs from out of state holding current NP license but are now residing in Florida. We contacted the board of nursing and this is their response.

"In response to questions we've gotten from retired members and those from out of state, we contacted the board of nursing to get the information on who is eligible to do the vaccination clinics as a provider! Of course those who have lucrnse  lapse may also volunteer or seek paid positions as non-licensed individuals to get more site up and running! So there is an opportunity for all NPs & nurses!

At this time there aren't any provisions for retired (or folks without an active license) licensees to assist.  However, licensees with active licenses from other states can assist due to the Executive Order by the Governor.  Inactive licensees can still do an emergency reactivation to assist - https://floridasnursing.gov/public-health-emergency-license-reactivation/

Below is the information we've been given to provide to folks who are interested in assisting:

Thank you for volunteering your time and services to help with the COVID effort. Active vaccination preparation and readiness efforts are in full swing, and many have questions about availability and distribution of the vaccine in the state of Florida and throughout our nation.

Please feel free to sign up for the FLORIDA MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS (MRC) NETWORK PROGRAM. For sign up follow the link provided.  https://flhealthresponse.com/mrcvolunteer

In addition, you may also reach out to your local county health department to offer assistance with the COVID effort in your community.
