Section 464.022(8), Florida Statutes, provides that a nurse who is currently licensed in another state or territory of the United States may perform services in Florida for a period of 60 days after furnishing to the employer satisfactory evidence of current licensure in another state or territory and having submitted proper application and fees to the Florida Board of Nursing for licensure prior to employment. Professions that qualify for this provision include licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and advanced practice registered nurses. Potential employers seeking to hire a nurse under this provision can verify the nurse’s licensure status in another state through Nursys at https://www.nursys.com/Default.aspx. Nurses can apply for licensure by endorsement through the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance’s online portal at https://floridasnursing.gov/licensing/licensed-practical-nurse-registered-nurse-by-endorsement/. For additional questions, please contact the Florida Board of Nursing at MQA.Nursing@flhealth.gov or 850-245-4125.
