Important: Clarification on clinical practice hours for new grads applying for Autonomous Practice
Posted almost 2 years ago by Vicky Stone-Gale
As a reminder, and in case there is confusion, clinical hours for autonomous practice are post-APRN licensure. Clinical hours as part of APRN education DO NOT count towards the 3000 hours required under protocol with a physician in order to apply for autonomous practice. As a registrant applicant applying for autonomous practice you are signing to certify you have met that statutory requirement. If you check the box that you have 3000 hours of clinical practice and you do not have those hours, you have falsified the application for licensure. If you know someone who has done this and they are practicing as a new graduate let them know they have the ability to voluntarily relinquish the autonomous registration by calling the Board of Nursing.
If someone is applying via their phones and not taking the time to read the requirements carefully, then mistakes can be made.
Anyone can file a complaint w/ DOH if they believe someone has obtained the registration fraudulently. https://www.flhealthcomplaint.gov/home
