Legislative Update: HB 883 Scheduled for Hearing!
Update 3/13/25! The House Bill 883 passed 14 to 3 in the Health Professions & Programs Subcommittee on 3/13/25! Onward to the senate side to pass SB 758 - Autonomous Practice by Certain Psychiatric Nurses by Senator Cory Simon!
Calling in all NPs to write your state Senator to SUPPORT this needed bill! Great news for Florida’s healthcare community! HB 883, sponsored by Representative Jason Shoaf, was officially added to the Health Professions & Programs Subcommittee agenda on March 13.
This bill is a crucial step toward expanding autonomous practice for psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), ensuring better access to mental health care for Floridians—especially in underserved areas.
We’re proud to share that Cindy Parsons, Tom Schlepko, Jerri Edwards, and Monica Barfield from the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN) have been invited to testify on behalf of PMHNPs. Their voices will be instrumental in advocating for this much-needed legislation.
Now is the time to show our support! If you're a Florida NP or healthcare advocate, reach out to your legislators and encourage them to back HB 883.
Let’s make history together!
