DNP Project Invitation- You are Invited to Participate

Posted about 3 hours ago by Regina Saunders

Dear FNPN Member,

FNPN Veteran Toolkit Flyer

My name is Marlicia Perry, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student at the University of South Florida. As part of my DNP scholarly project, I am developing a Veteran-Specific Care Toolkit designed to enhance nurse practitioners’ (NPs) ability to provide culturally competent and holistic care for Veterans in civilian healthcare settings. Given your expertise, I am inviting you to serve as a stakeholder by reviewing and evaluating the toolkit during its development phase.

Why is this important? More than half of all Veterans receive care outside the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The unique health needs of Veterans, such as post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD, military sexual trauma (MST), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and conditions related to toxic exposure, are increasingly recognized as critical patient safety priorities. However, many civilian NPs have limited formal training in caring for Veterans. This toolkit is designed to address that gap by offering evidenced-based resources and decision-support tools tailored to NP practice.

What does participation involve?

● Reviewing the Veteran-Specific Care Toolkit and its key components.

● Completing a brief survey using the Acceptability of Intervention Measure (AIM), Intervention Appropriateness Measure (IAM), and Feasibility of Intervention Measure (FIM) to evaluate the toolkit’s acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility.

● Providing additional feedback and suggestions beyond the survey questions.

Your participation is entirely voluntary, and all feedback will remain confidential. If you are interested in contributing to this project, please reply to this email or click the link below to confirm your participation. You may withdraw your participation at any time. If you change your mind or no longer wish to be contacted about this project, please notify me so I can remove you from the contact list.
