Get involved in federal legislation that will directly affect NP pracitce

Posted about 13 years ago by Regina Pommer

Dear Colleagues,

There are two key pieces of federal legislation that will directly affect NP practice, if approved. The first is S227 The Health Care Planning and Improvement Act of 2011 which would authorize NPs to order home health care services without documentation from a physician. Cosponsors are needed for this bill.  click here to send letter  http://www.capwiz.com/aanp/issues/alert/?alertid=14934206

The second is S56 the Medicaid Advanced Practice Nurse and Physician Assistant Act of 2011. This bill would remove the states discretion for recognizing NPs as primary care providers in the Medicaid managed care programs. click here to send letter http://www.capwiz.com/aanp/issues/alert/?alertid=30621501.  Or you can call the senators directly.

In Florida, our senators are Republican Senator Marco Rubio (B40A DIRKSEN SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON DC 20510 (202) 224-3041) and Democratic  Senator Bill Nelson (716 HART SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON DC 20510 (202) 224-5274).

Senator Nelson’s web page contact is: http://billnelson.senate.gov/contact/index.cfm

Senator Rubio’s web page contact is: http://rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact

It is vitally important that we support this legislative initiative!

We thank you in advance for you advocacy and support.
