Message to All Florida NPs from FNPN President!

April 25, 2014: Today was another historical day for this Legislative session! The Florida House of Representatives passed HB 7113 that gives nurse practitioners the ability to practice to full extent of educational preparation and to prescribe controlled substances.  The bill also gives nurses practitioners the ability to see patients via telehealth services.  The final vote on the bill was 74-42 with bipartisan support.

The Florida Nurse Practitioner Network thanks Rep. Cary Pigman, R-Sebring, for having the courage to champion the bill despite severe opposition from his physician colleagues.

Next the bill will go to the Senate where there will undoubtedly be a tremendous amount of opposition. Keep an eye on your emails for requests for emailing Senators. Visit our legislative Pages!
