The following members are running for office.

OFFICE OF PRESIDENT

Doreen Cassarino, MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC, BC-ADM is the incumbent FNPN president and past AANP Florida State Representative.  She has been active in legislative activities at a local, state and national level. She has represented Florida nurse practitioners to the Quality and Unity in Nursing Council, the Florida Coalition for Advanced Practice Nurses, and the Florida Action Coalition.  Doreen is committed to working collaboratively with other nursing colleagues and nursing organizations to enhance access to care by improving nurse practitioner practice.

OFFICE OF 2nd VICE PRESIDENT

Dr. Jean Aertker, DNP, ARNP, FAANP is a pioneer NP in Florida dedicated to improving the scope of practice and work opportunities for our profession. As a Founding board member of FNPN and charter founding member of AANP, Jean knows well the past legislative successes and battles we have had in Florida. As a conference and program planner, Jean has created exceptional programs for the membership and raised funds to ensure our continued presence protecting and show casing our finest attributes, for our dedicated members who share the FNPN vision. With your support, Jean would like to create new and exciting FNPN venues for FL NPs statewide to energize the core and entice the new!

OFFICE OF TREASURER

Incumbent treasurer Denise Elswick ARNP, is certified in both Family (through ANCC) and Adult (through AANP).  She feels that working in a volunteer capacity with busy working NP's coordinating and communicating is a learned skill. Denise has enjoyed her term as treasurer and feels that she has been successful in "keeping" the books, making payments on time, etc. She was a founding member of FNPN and her local group Manatee Area Council for Advanced Nursing Practice.  Denise would appreciate the opportunity to again “give back” to this great organization.

George Byron Smith would be honored to serve as Treasurer for FNPN. He is the out-going President of the Tampa Bay Advanced Practice Nurse Council and an active member with several NP organizations. George is a Gerontological NP in private practice with community and long-term care residents, an Associate Professor with the Brandman University DNP program, and a DNP graduate of Case Western Reserve University. George believes Florida NPs provide high quality healthcare for patients in primary care, acute and chronic settings with all age spectrums. Florida has unique challenges that require NPs to come together and work toward our common interest and the interest of our patients. George will work with the FNPN leadership and members to ensure that we are good stewards of FNPN funds and will actively promote membership among his Florida NP colleagues and NP Students.
