Breaking News: Florida Senate Health Policy Committee Passes SB476

Posted over 10 years ago by Janet DuBois

SB476, allowing Psychaitric ARNPs the authority to release a patient who has been involuntarily committed under the Baker Act, passed through the Senate Health Policy Committee. The committee voted unanimously to pass this bill. This is an extremely noteworthy vote as this committee has not been favorable to APRN bills in the past! It demonstrates a willingness to promote the role and responsibility of the APRN in our state.

We congratulate and thank Senator Grimsley in her efforts to advance APRNs in our struggle to practice to our full authority in Florida! Thanks to all who worked to craft this bill and amend it's language to include the broadest group of APRNs possible, especially Allison Carjaval, FNPN Lobbyist, Emily Donelson-Bell, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, and the FHA lobbyist, Martha DeCastro.
