The Buzz on ACO's - Are You Involved and Aware?
Posted over 12 years ago by Jean Aertker
Florida has just added 16 new ACO's to the growing list announced by the US Health and Human Services. Since January 1st, nearly 300 have been approved nationwide with the majority in CA, FL and NY areas. Two of the new FL groups involve Miami-Dade Physicians and Walgreens. An ACO is a network of physicians, allied health professionals, and hospitals that share responsibility for providing care to patients. In the new Affordable Care Act, an ACO would agree to manage all of the health care needs of a minimum of 5,000 Medicare beneficiaries for at least three years. FNPN wnats to know how you feel this will impact your patients and your delivery of care. NPs must be involved in these plans and are the key to success.
