Happy NP Week!

In honor of NP week, today we are recognizing Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioners and three of thier long time members, Karin Klause, Michelle Taylor, and Terri Pinder. Thank you for your commitment to the NP role!

Started through the efforts of a few dedicated NPs in the early 1990s, the Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioner group began as an informal fledgling group, offering industry-sponsored dinners as a way to bring NP colleagues together to discuss practice challenges and the many barriers they faced to the delivery of quality care. Throughout the years the group steadily grew but saw a significant decline in attendance and interest in the past few years. These 3 dedicated and dynamic NPs began the task of reviving and structuring TCNP earlier this year. After sending a call for TCNP members to help with formally organizing, they now have secured the support of 14 motivated NPs for participation on their planning committee!

They have been busy developing by-laws to be reviewed and approved at a meeting scheduled this week. They have also met with an accountant who is able to file the necessary paperwork on their behalf in order to incorporate and become a non-profit organization.  Several members have been nominated in order to form an interim BOD so they can conduct business until official elections are held.  They have persevered through this arduous process supported by their NP community and powered by dedication to NP practice.  Karin, Michelle, and Tina hope that their efforts will inspire other NPs to actively participate in support of their local organizations!
