FNPN Members recommend changes in 1st reading of the House NP bill

Posted about 10 years ago by Jean Aertker

Thanks to our dedicated FNPN members who traveled to Tallahassee to be at the first reading of the House Select Committee on Workforce Innovation committee proposed committee bill (PCB) on NP practice. Special Thanks again to Jim Quilian, NP, owner of Williston Pediatrics who has made two trips this session to express his concerns to the committee and Dr. Frances Sahebzamani for giving public testimony yesterday. We thank members and also non-members who replied to our first bill review request and for sending thier comments to Jean Aertker ahead of the meeting. We were your voice there as always.

Frances M. Sahebzamani, PhD, ARNP, FAANP from USF CON shared her concern before the committee representing all faculty who would be be penalized and could never reach Independent Practice status as provided in the bill as all faculty practice part-time. The original bill provided for only full time NPs to be unsupervised/independent. The change she recommended is expected in the  new version of the bill. Great job Frances and Jim!

The next committee meeting for the reading of the changes in this bill is next week. Here are the new changes: PCB SCHCWI 14-01a.pdf  (Cut and Paste link if needed)
