Outstanding! So succinct and forceful. The state with the worst abuse of controlled substances is a state where physicians are the only ones writing for controlled subsances. NPs certainly have sufficient education and clinical training to prescribe controlled substances safely and judiciously. I did so in NJ for 5 years before moving to FL.

A lot said withut uttering one word. Very interesting as all of us NPs share her idesa. Yes, ONLY "qualified" MDS write for these drugs in the state of Florida. .HOw could this state be the epo-center of abuse when only QUALIFIED MDS are writing these scripts. I also had full licensure for 5 1/2 years in NY and often had to write these c=scripts for foreign MDs who had not yet been able to get their DEA numbers. So, how come we become so Stupid when we move into Florida??? The FMA and the AMA need to come into the 21st centruy and realize that health care will be much imporoved when NPs can write for the medicines the patients they are treating require to have a good quality of life.
