Florida Nurse Practitioner Network and Florida Nurses Association Rally Support for Overdue Changes in Healthcare Legislation
TAMPA, FL – “Florida residents deserve new legislation from our Florida House of Representatives that supports the 2011 findings from The Institute of Medicine which concluded that nurse practitioners should practice to the full extent of their education and training.” said Jean Aertker, DNP, ARNP, CHON-S, FAANP, Founding Board Member/2nd Vice President FNPN.
On Sunday, the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network will be addressing their specific healthcare concerns and seeking clear legislative support that empowers nurse practitioners at a special press conference.

Nurse Practitioners will be joined by Republican Candidate for State House of Representatives District Seat #17, Kim Kendall.Kendallhas received the endorsements and full support of both the Florida Nurse Practitioners Network andFloridaNurses Association.
“Despite significant cost savings; increased healthcare service availability; and support from the Florida Senate to authorize nurse practitioners to work to the full extent of their training, all attempts, for 17 years to implement legislation in the Florida House has stalled at the committee level. That’s unacceptable. But I will not rest until the public is aware of these issues, and we stop the wasteful spending of $339 million annually!”
