AANP posted this item in thier recent Brief "Nurses on Boards Coalition - AANP is a member of a new coalition of national nursing organizations formed to increase nurses' presence on corporate and nonprofit health-related boards of directors throughout the country. Read the press release here. The Nurses on Boards Coalition will implement a national strategy to bring the nursing perspective to governing boards and national and state commissions with an interest in health. The goal is to put 10,000 nurses on boards by the year 2020. The effort is a direct response to the Institute of Medicine's report, "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health," which recommends nurses play more pivotal decision-making roles on boards and commissions in improving the health of Americans. The endeavor is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and AARP as part of their collaborative effort to implement the recommendations of the IOM report through the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action."
FNPN would like to spotlight all NPs who go that extra distance to serve your community and present you for our Thanksgiving Tribute as we launch our FNPN Recognition Webpage. Please send us your name, details and what service you are doing - along with a photo if you have one for our webpage! We thank you for your community service. You are the impetus to perhaps encourage another NP to do the same!
