Breaking News: Florida Senate Rules Committee passes SB614 and 476
Posted over 10 years ago by Janet DuBois
Earlier this afternoon the Florida senate passed two landmark ARNP bills. Both SB 614 (controlled substance bill) and SB 476 (Baker Act) bill passed through this final committee. Both bills will be reconciled with similar bills in the house then returned to the Senate for the final vote.
This is unprecedented in the history of the ARNP role in Florida!! Please join me in thanking our legislative team, our lobbyist Allison Carvajal, lobbyist Martha DeCastro and Senator Grimsley for their hard work and support on our behalf. All three of these dedicated supporters worked tirelesly to craft the bills and amendments to be most favorable to us. I know for a fact that they met in person over this past weekend to make sure the bills passed!
Please stay tuned for further information as it comes out as well as for any Alerts and calls to action!

Cool!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! After just moving here to Florida from a Full Authority Practice State, I am grateful for everyone who has sacrificed their time and talents to expand our practice here. I hope one day that Florida will be a Full Authority Practice State as there is no reason why Florida NP's have to be suppressed in the dark ages.
thank you all and having had DEA #'s in two states I now feel we are coming into the correct century! Here's to collaboration not supervision!

So glad to hear that Florida NP's are moving into the current practicing authority that all other states have. Coming from NY I had to give up my DEA number and will be happy when I am able to fully practice. My patient's and associates will appreciate it as well. Thank you for all your time and effort

Thanks so much for all your hard work! Now after discussing the medicine with patient, going over usage, dosage, and side effects and actually writing the prescription, I can sign it! ( hopefully!!!)
So many ARNPs, FNPN members, lobbyists and legislators have worked tirelessly and with relentless effort to help obtain full scope of practice and prescriptive authority for Florida ARNPs. Special recognition for Barbara Lumpkin, FNA for her many years of dedication to see this issue through. A special thanks to Dr Gary Pigman and Senator Denise Grimsley for their courage and voice to support ARNPs.
